I summitted Pikes Peak in 2008 with a fellow Staff Sergeant TBI survivor. 2014 is my 30th Anniversary of my TBI. I survived being shot twice in the head when I was 16 years old in 1984. I recovered and went into public safety and private security. I enlisted in the US Army Reserves at 37 years old in 2005. I received my Honorable Discharge in December 2013 after 8 years of continuous service. I was told by Army Recruiters when I was 18 that because of my TBI I couldn't even be Drafted! So in essence I changed the past and accomplished my Police and Military service after surviving a catastrophic TBI from being shot. This year's Pikes Peak Challenge means alot emotionally by celebrating my 2nd chance at life, I'm still here.
