The Pikes Peak Challenge Hike takes place on well-established Barr Trail completed in 1921 by Fred Barr. The event is a 13-mile ascent to the summit only. Once at the summit, enjoy an energy snack and the amazing views while waiting for transport back down the mountain to Manitou Springs Memorial Park where our staff will serve you lunch. Transportation is provided to the trailhead and back down the mountain via the Pikes Peak Highway.
Each participant must be pre-registered. You can register online or by mail-in registration. Brochures are located at Christy Sports, and King Soopers stores. Registration deadline is Friday, August 27, 2010.
A non-refundable registration fee of $40.00 is required and includes:
- Pre-Hike Rally dinner the night before at the United States Olympic Complex. The Pre-Hike Rally is your opportunity to pick up your t-shirt, fundraising rewards, hiker's bag and to hear possible changes and last minute details.
- Event T-Shirt
- Transportation to the trail head and back down off the mountain
- Medal if you summit
- Lunch
Each participant must raise in pre-collected donations $150.00 minimum. Fundraising rewards offered for pre-collected donations at levels of $300.00, $600.00, $1,000.00 and over.
The Pikes Peak Challenge is the major fundraising event funding programs and services through the Brain Injury Association of Colorado and Memorial Health System's Think First for Kids Head & Spinal Cord Injury Prevention Program. All donations are tax deductible and donor's names and addresses remain confidential.
Once you register for the Challenge you will receive by mail a Hiker's Information Packet with additional details, directions, Hiker's Manual, lodging and fundraising information.
